A Boyd Bazaar Back At No.5 Maddox Street

Following on from the success of last year’s ABOYDBAZAAR at No.5 Maddox Street, we are delighted to, once again, play host to this event on the 24th and 25th April in the Bartlett Suite. Using the handcrafted methods of local artisans in exotic, far-flung corners of the world, Tracey Boyd manages to re-invent traditional pieces to create something unexpectedly modern and beautiful. Inspired by her travels around the globe (jealous, moi?), Tracey creates an eclectic collection of shirts, cushions and accessories that are available to buy from her website.

“Whether it’s a vintage cotton Indian blanket re-invented with shell and wool embroideries or a finely beaded tasselled shirt designed from scratch. This crazy cornucopia of limited editions is what makes ABOYDBAZAAR.”

I just love all of the intricate detailing and cannot wait to see the full collection. The cushions are to die for and would look amazing in my pied-à-terre. These are investment pieces with an incredible authenticity and a wonderful backstory; my decision to purchase is made even easier in the knowledge that I have supported the employment of the women in India who make these by hand.

Easter Treats at Living Rooms

Our lucky guests at No.5 Maddox Street and Europa House Apartments are in for a wonderfully, chocolatey treat this weekend as we celebrate Easter here at Living Rooms. These devilishly cute, and not to mention, completely delicious Emoticon Easter Eggs from Artisan du Chocolat are sure to delight our guests on Sunday evening. I think those little faces should put a smile on their faces anyway, as long as they are not all eaten by moi that is….time to step away from the chocolate Pascal!

Happy Easter one and all and, incredibly, I have even managed to avoid the use of any dreadful Easter egg puns. Eggstraordinary!

Tracey Boyd to launch ABOYDBAZAAR at No.5 Maddox Street

We are extremely excited that Tracey Boyd will be launching her very first ABOYDBAZAAR collection at No.5 Maddox Street. The designer and former Creative Director of both Monsoon and Jigsaw – to name but a few, is launching a brand new eclectic collection, which, she says, “is born out of my need to design, my passion for collecting, and my love of travel.”

Entitled ABOYDBAZAAR, everything in the collection has been sparked by an idea, an experience or tradition that Tracey has fallen in love with on her journeys around the world. The aim is to create a unique collection that respects the integrity of a traditional craft, whilst combining it with Tracey’s own design to create something modern and new. We can’t wait to see the collection in its entirety but for now here is a sneak preview…

Of course, there is also an ethical aspect to the ABOYDBAZAAR collection, which supports SEWA – the Self Employed Women’s Association – the only central trade union that protects women workers in the informal economy of India. The embroidery and beadwork that you can see on the cushions and blankets have been done with SEWA and supports their very important cause.
