Held every year without interruption since 1769, the Summer Exhibition showcases a diverse array of contemporary works, including prints, paintings, films, photography, sculpture, and architectural works.
This year’s show, coordinated by sculptor Ann Christopher RA, makes space for the best work by open-submission artists and Royal Academicians. The mix of art by household names and emerging talent is what makes the Summer Exhibition the UK’s best-loved art show.

SERPENTINE PAVILION 2024 BY MINSUK CHO, MASS STUDIES
Tracing the history of past Serpentine Pavilions, Minsuk Cho observed that they often emerge as a singular structure situated at the centre of the Serpentine South lawn. To explore new possibilities and previously untold spatial narratives, Cho approaches the centre as an open space. The 23rd Serpentine Pavilion envisions a unique void surrounded by a constellation of smaller, adaptable structures strategically positioned at the periphery of the lawn.

The Emmy, Golden Globe and Olivier award-winning actor Brian Cox, makes his return to the London stage in Spring 2024 starring in Long Day’s Journey Into Night. Often regarded as the greatest American play of the 20th Century, this landmark new production will be helmed by award-winning director Jeremy Herrin.

PJ Harvey writes the songs for Ben Power’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’s ‘Our Mutual Friend’, rechristened ‘London Tide’. Directed by Ian Rickson, it follows the chain of events set into motion when a body is pulled out of the Thames. The cast includes Bella Maclean, Tom Mothersdale and Ami Tredea.

Bluets is a story about depression and desire, pleasure and pain, and a person possessed by a lifelong obsession with the colour blue. Communing with artists like Joni Mitchell, Derek Jarman, Andy Warhol and Billie Holiday, blue is their constant companion as they navigate the devastating pain of a life-altering heartbreak.
Based on acclaimed author Maggie Nelson’s unique and electrifying book, Bluets is an adaptation by playwright Margaret Perry (Paradise Now!, Porcelain, Collapsible), directed by Katie Mitchell (Little Scratch, Anatomy of a Suicide).
Performed by Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon), Kayla Meikle (ear for eye) and Ben Whishaw (Cock, James Bond, This is Going to Hurt, Paddington).

FESTIVALS
The celebrated Sundance Film Festival is coming back to London, offering movie enthusiasts the opportunity to experience a diverse selection of impactful and emotionally engaging films. The upcoming 2024 festival will kick off with the debut of 'Kneecap', the inaugural Irish language film to be featured at Sundance. This movie follows the journey of a burgeoning rap group from Belfast as they strive to preserve their mother tongue.

This year’s festival will be raising funds for our charity partner, Young Westminster Foundation, who invest in brighter futures for young people in the local area. There will be a charity tombola with a variety of fashion, lifestyle and beauty prizes to win, and all sales made from the activities will be donated to Young Westminster Foundation.
